Why this page exists

Transit rules in China change quickly and quietly — a new country list, a new port, a threshold that halves. The advice you read in a blog post from 2024 or in a guidebook printed last year is often wrong in ways that matter at the border. This log only contains dated items with a source attached.

How to keep yourself current

  • Check this page the week before you fly, and again the day before.
  • Call the immigration hotline 12367 (English, 24/7) for anything specific to your itinerary.
  • Check live port congestion on the i口岸 mini-program before choosing a crossing.
  • Follow your airline's travel-requirements page — check-in staff are bound by it even when it's wrong.
  • For APEC-period travel, re-check transport and security arrangements close to the date.
